5 Tips for playing padel in summer

For padel lovers, this summer there are many new things. Even in tourist resorts throughout Italy, the number of padel courts is constantly increasing, allowing Italian and foreign tourists to practice the most popular sport of the moment.
Alongside classic beach tennis and beach volleyball, paddle tennis has gained ground this year, with the number of courts dedicated to this sport almost tripling, with courts sometimes located within the residences themselves.
We are experiencing one of the hottest summers on record. Playing sports is becoming increasingly difficult. Therefore, some precautions are necessary to play padel safely and, above all, enjoyably. At Padelpadel, we have prepared a list of tips to put into practice to play your best.
1. Avoid playing during the hottest hours
Playing padel during the hottest hours of the day can be truly challenging, considering the summer heat, ending up transforming a pleasant moment into a nightmare, with the humidity and stuffiness taking over and potentially putting a significant strain on our circulatory system. The best time of day for a padel match is certainly in the evening after 8:00 PM or, at most, in the early morning from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
2. Hydrate properly
Liquids are our best allies against the heat, which together with physical activity could lead to dehydration problems. Our advice is to bring a cooler bag with water or other liquids to keep your body hydrated whenever it demands it. For each match, 1 to 2 liters of liquids are necessary to properly hydrate yourself during these summer days.
3. Pay attention to nutrition
The consumption of alcohol and caffeine promotes dehydration, so, even if we are on holiday, we should try to avoid them if we intend to play sports, just as we should avoid overly heavy meals, preferring small meals of fruit and vegetables.
4. Lightweight clothing
It may seem obvious, but using specific sportswear is very important. A technical, light, and breathable fabric will make you suffer less from the heat and stay cool for the entire duration of the match. So, do not underestimate your clothing and, if possible, wear a cap to protect yourself from the sun's rays.
5. Pay attention to the racket
Not only players are affected by the sun during the game; the court and equipment also suffer the consequences, making the game a little different. Padel rackets, in particular, are subject to changes due to high temperatures and could expand, so it is a good idea to keep them away from heat sources to maintain their performance.
